IHL Heineken Cup Playoffs Start Tonight

by Jerry Fronek

The IHL quarterfinal round will be played tonight at the Inwood Ice Arena beginning at 8:15pm when the visiting 5th seeded Insomniak Motorworkz (3-6-0-2) take on the 4th seeded M&I Steel Maulers (7-5-0-0).  The Motorworkz have been beset with attendance issues and are facing a Mauler team that has steamrolled into the playoffs winning their last four games by a combined score of 45-15.  Two of those victories came at the expense of the Motorworkz a 14-2 drubbing back in December and a more recent 8-3 victory for M&I Steel.  Anything and anybody can show up for playoffs making the IHL playoff season somewhat unpredictable.  Vegas has Insomniak +4 1/2.

In the night cap JJ Sports Bras (2-8-0-2) come in at the 6 seed and will take on #3 Rachke Wrenches (7-5-0-0).  JJ has also struggled to put a full team on the ice making it very tough to compete in an upgraded IHL.  Rachke has had their share of injuries as well and will need the right line up on the ice to prevail.  Vegas line - JJ Sports Bras +6
