ILHL 40 Opens With The Rehab Kings Hosting Sterr Shamrocks

Inwood Ice Arena - Tonight the quest for the Summer 2019 Legend Cup kicks off as the Michael Sterr Foundation Shamrocks take on the Elite Rehab Kings in a rematch of the Summer 2018 ILHL Legend Cup finals which was ultimately won by the Shamrocks.

Both teams were busy in the off season re-tooling rosters for the Summer 19 season as Shamrock GM Jeff Sterr brought back crowd favorite Brian Snikeris to lead the charge.  Snikeris last played for the Shamrocks in the Fall 2016 season putting up 38 points in 12 games.  The Shamrocks are experimenting in goal and have signed former KHL goaltender George Mihailofski to a one year contract after he retired last year.

Returning from the Winter 2019 ILHL season are forwards Bryan Bohdi Carver, Kevin Voyt, Matt Ryan, Jeff Sterr and defensemen Bill Reynolds.  The Shamrocks also added rookies Ryan Helis and Dave Reaume to the mix while rounding out the roster with veteran free agents Keith Degan, Dave Knox and Mike Pepich.

The Elite Rehab Kings, after a dismal 2-9-1 record in the Winter 2019 season, will look to rebound by adding some offensive help to pair with last seasons leading scorer, Ryan Shaw.  Shaw was the only rostered player to put up over 20 points.

The Kings GM Rob Barton signed journeyman neutral-zoner Jayson Allendorf to a one year deal to open up some real estate and give the team some field position and scoring power a season after they tallied a record low 48 goals in a 12 games.  They set another dubious record last season being the only team in the entire league with a negative overall goal differential at -31.  Everbody else was in the positive because of them.  Ouch.  In addition to Shaw and Allendorf, the Kings brought in Martin Boban who put up 29 points with the MyEyeDr Eagles last season and helped the team to the ILHL Legend Cup Finals before being swept by the Big Kahuna Tasty Burgers.  Boban has not yet agreed to his contract and will not be available for the opener.

The Kings cleaned house as in addition to Shaw, only Forward Michael Reyes and Defensemen Rob Barton return.  Key veteran free agent signings are forwards Jeff Adolfino, Matt Blackburn, Ryan Johnson and Matt Liebermann while the blueline was vastly shored up with the addition of defensemen Mike Knapp and Matt McDonald.   ILHL veteran goalie Bob Mau will backstop the Rehab Kings this season.

Faceoff tonight is 10:15pm, good seats are still available on TicketHump.com.
